Course Description

This course provides fundamental instruction in transcribing medical reports from actual physician dictation using word processing software. Students prepare a variety of medical reports that are utilized in a medical office and acute care settings. This course emphasizes formatting and medical office writing styles, as well as introduces students to editing, proofreading, and speech recognition skills necessary with the changes in technology and the electronic health record (EHR). NOTE: Course offered during Fall and Spring quarters only.
