Program Updates and/or Changes

While every possible step has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the catalog, sometimes minor changes must be made throughout the year that are in the interest of the students or the College. These are the program updates and changes made online after the publication of the 2016-2017 catalog.

PROGRAM UPDATES AND/OR CHANGES:
 

8/19/16 - For all Certificates of Achievement and Career Certificates

The link to gainful employment information for all certificates has been changed to:

8/22/16 - Computer Technology Transfer – Information Assurance (CTIAS)  pg. 179

Under Social Science section of General Education, the student must select a transfer Social Science course for 4.5 credit hours (the 4.5 is missing from the right column).  Total hours on the degree are correct.

 

9/7/16 - Design, Interactivity, and Media Arts - Illustration (DIILO)   pg. 161

DIMA 2350, DIMA 2351, and DIMA 2352 have been removed from the list of possible Tier III Electives as they create hidden prerequisites in the degree.

 

9/12/16 - Design, Interactivity, and Media Arts - Media Generalist (DIMGO)  pg. 162

PHOT 1500 Moving Image Lab (6.0 credit hours) has been added to the Tier III list of electives to resolve a hidden prerequisite for VACA 2220.  Tier III Electives are now a range of 9.0-10.5 credit hours with a total of 54.0-55.5 concentration requirements credits; total credit hours on the degree are 108.0-109.5.    

 

9/12/16 - Information Technology - Security Technician (ITSTO)  pg. 191

INFO 1003 Introduction to Computer Programming (5.0 credit hours) has been added to the option requirements to resolve a hidden prerequisite for INFO 1110.  INFO 2809 has been deleted as an option requirement. Option requirements are now 23.0 credit hours, and the total credit hours on the certificate are 54.5-55.0. Curriculum plan updated online. 

 

9/12/16 - Information Technology - Server Technician (ITSRO)  pg. 191

INFO 1003 Introduction to Computer Programming (5.0 credit hours) has been added to the option requirements to resolve a hidden prerequisite for INFO 1110.  Option requirements electives INFO 1411, 1421, and 2145 have been removed.  Option requirements are now 23.0 credit hours, and the total credit hours on the certificate are 54.5-55.0.  Curriculum plan updated online.

 

9/12/16 - Office Technology - Office Professional (OTOPO)  pg. 210

INFO 1011 Project Management has been deleted from option requirements to resolve a hidden prereq issue.  Rather than choose one course from the list of option requirement electives, students should now select two from the list.  

 

9/21/16 - Early Childhood Education - Early Childhood Educator (ECAS1)   pg. 214 (CANCELLED; see later revision on 10/10/16 below)

EMSP 1010 Heartsaver First Aid with CRP and AED has been added to the list of major requirements; students who currently hold a valid CPR/first aid card can waive this requirement. Major requirements now total 76 credit hours, for a degree total of 107.5 credit hours.  

 

9/21/16 - Early Childhood Education - Early Childhood Educator-Assistant (ECTC1)   pg. 216  (CANCELLED; see later revision on 10/10/16 below)

EMSP 1010 Heartsaver First Aid with CRP and AED has been added to the list of major requirements; students who currently hold a valid CPR/first aid card can waive this requirement. Major requirements now total 38.5 credit hours, for a certificate total of 52.0 credit hours. 

 

9/21/16 - Early Childhood Education Director (ECDCC)  pg. 217

The following has been added to the list of requirements to resolve a hidden prerequisite:

ENGL 1210

ENGL 1220

ENGL 1230

Students planning to transfer should select ENGL 1010

Career certificate credit hours now total 33.0.

 

9/21/16 - Early Childhood Generalist (ECGSD)  pg. 217

The following has been added to the list of requirements to resolve a hidden prerequisite:

Select one of the following:

ENGL 1010

ENGL 1210

ENGL 1220

ENGL 1230

Students planning to transfer should select ENGL 1010

Career certificate credit hours now total 31.5.

 

10/10/16 – Early Childhood Education - Early Childhood Educator (ECAS1) and Early Childhood Education - Early Childhood Educator-Assistant (ECTC1)   pgs. 214 and 216

It has been determined that EMSP 1010 primarily addresses adult issues and as such, students in the Early Childhood Education program should seek out a CPR/First Aid program that addresses children rather than take EMSP 1010. The following two actions taken on 9/21/16  should be CANCELLED:

EMSP 1010 Heartsaver First Aid with CRP and AED has been added to the list of major requirements; students who currently hold a valid CPR/first aid card can waive this requirement. Major requirements now total 38.5 credit hours, for a certificate total of 52.0 credit hours.

The programs have been returned to their original requirements as stated in the print catalog with these changes:  In the original programs, the following language should be deleted from both ECAS1 and ECTC1:  Students must submit documentation that verifies current certification in adult CPR and basic first aid before participating in practicum courses.  EMSP 1010 Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED is offered through MCC as a 1.0 credit hour course.

10/17/16 - Information Technology - Programming for Database/Web (ITDWO)   pg. 187

INFO 1111 Linux Operating Systems I, a major requirement for the program, did not appear in the curriculum plan.  HMRL 1010 was in the plan twice, so it was deleted from the fourth quarter and INFO 1111 inserted in its place.

 

11/21/16 - Information Technology - Security Technician (ITSTO)   pg. 191

To resolve hidden prerequisites, the option requirements for this program have been changed and the curriculum plan updated.  See Information Technology – Security Technician (ITSTO).

 

12/19/16 - Bookkeeping (BKPCE)   pg. 85

Major requirement credit hours are incorrectly stated, it should be 26.5-29.0 hours. Graduation requirements should read: General education, 22.5 and major requirements, 26.5-29.0, which equals 49.0-51.5 total credit hours required for the certificate.

 

1/20/17 -  Video/Audio Communications Arts - Sound Recording (VSRC1)   pg. 177

Major requirements are stated incorrectly at 40.5 hours instead of 42.0 hours.  Total credit hours required should be 55.5 credit hours.
